Terms of Use

Table of Contents

These Terms of Use ("Terms") apply to ActuarialMind.ai and its study tools (the "Service"). Please read them carefully. By creating an account or subscribing, you agree to these Terms, our Refunds and Cancellation policy and our Disclaimers. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.

Who We Are

The Service is provided by Artificially Educated Ltd ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16183501), registered office 50a Clifford Way, Maidstone, Kent, ME16 8GD, England. VAT number: GB 485 4267 58. Contact: support@actuarialmind.ai.

Eligibility and Your Account

  • You must be 18 or over to create an account.
  • Each account is for one person. You must not share your account or sign-in details with anyone else.
  • Keep your sign-in details secure. We recommend turning on two-factor authentication in Settings. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
  • You are responsible for activity on your account unless it results from our failure to keep the Service secure.

The Service

ActuarialMind provides study materials and tools for the Society of Actuaries (SOA) Exam P (Probability) and Exam FM (Financial Mathematics), including course notes, question banks, practice papers, flashcards, lists, a study planner and the Cortex AI study assistant. Our materials are independent and supplemental: they do not replace the official syllabus and study materials published by the SOA. Check the SOA website for the syllabus that applies to your exam sitting.

We keep improving the Service and may change, add or remove features. We will not make changes that significantly reduce what you have paid for during a billing period without telling you and offering a pro-rata refund if you cancel as a result.

Subscriptions and Payment

  • Plans. Access to each exam is sold as a subscription. The price, currency and billing interval are shown before you pay.
  • Buying more than one exam. If you subscribe to more than one exam in the same checkout, they share one subscription. They renew, are cancelled and are refunded together.
  • Who sells the subscription. Checkout is provided by Stripe through its Managed Payments service. Stripe acts as the merchant of record: it takes the payment, calculates and collects any sales tax or VAT, and issues your receipts. Stripe's own terms apply to the payment itself. We provide the Service.
  • Automatic renewal. Your subscription is billed in advance and renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. Settings shows when your next renewal is due.
  • Price changes. We will tell you at least 30 days before a price change applies to your subscription. The new price applies from your next renewal after that notice. You can cancel before then.
  • Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe will retry it and your access continues for a short grace period. If payment still cannot be taken, the subscription ends and access stops.
  • Promotion codes. Promotion codes are subject to the conditions stated with them, cannot be exchanged for cash and may be withdrawn.

Cancellation, Refunds and Your Statutory Rights

  • Cancelling. You can cancel at any time in Settings > Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep access until then.
  • 14-day money-back guarantee. You can get a full refund of the first payment for a subscription within 14 days of that payment. See our Refunds and Cancellation policy for details.
  • Statutory cancellation right. If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, you normally have 14 days to cancel a contract for digital content or services. Because you get access as soon as you subscribe, you agree at checkout that access starts immediately. That means the statutory right to cancel ends once access begins. Our 14-day money-back guarantee still gives you a full refund of your first payment in that period.
  • Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if digital content or a service we supply is faulty or not as described.

Acceptable Use

You must not:

  • share your account, or resell, sublicense or give others access to the Service;
  • copy, download in bulk, scrape or redistribute our content, including by automated means or to train AI models;
  • interfere with, probe or test the security of the Service, get around usage limits, or reverse engineer it, except where the law allows;
  • submit unlawful, abusive or infringing material, or other people's personal or confidential information, through notes, feedback or AI features;
  • use the Service in a way that breaks any law or the examination rules of the Society of Actuaries or the Casualty Actuarial Society.

Exam confidentiality. You must not send us, post or share questions or answers from an actual SOA or CAS examination. We will not accept such material, and we will remove it if we find it.

Our Content and Trademarks

The Service and its content, apart from your own content, belong to Artificially Educated Ltd or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the Service for your own exam preparation while your account is active.

Society of Actuaries, SOA, Casualty Actuarial Society and CAS are trademarks of their respective owners. We use them only to identify the examinations our materials help you prepare for. ActuarialMind is not affiliated with or endorsed by the SOA or the CAS; see our Disclaimers.

Your Content

You own the notes, flashcards, lists and other content you create. You give us a licence to store, process and display it, and to send it to our AI providers as described in our Privacy Policy, solely to provide the Service to you. Your content is private to your account. You can export it from Settings and delete it at any time.

AI Features

  • Cortex and our other AI features generate responses automatically. They can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Check important points against the official SOA syllabus and study materials.
  • AI explanations and feedback are aids to help you practise. They do not predict or affect your official exam results.
  • Nothing in the Service is financial, investment, actuarial, legal or tax advice.
  • AI features have fair-use limits, for example a daily usage allowance, so the Service stays available for everyone.
  • You can turn AI features off in Settings > Privacy.

Availability

We aim to keep the Service available at all times but cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may suspend it for maintenance, security or reasons outside our control, and will try to keep interruptions short.

Suspension and Termination

You can stop using the Service and cancel at any time. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, or if we must do so by law. Where reasonable, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put things right. If we close your account without good reason, we will refund any amount you have paid for the period you can no longer use. When an account is closed, we handle your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

Our Responsibility to You

  • If we break these Terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable.
  • The Service is for personal study. We are not responsible for business losses such as loss of profit or business opportunity.
  • We are not responsible for exam results. Passing depends on many factors outside our control.
  • Apart from the exclusions below, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
  • We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or where the law does not allow us to, including your rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms, for example to reflect changes to the Service or the law. We will give subscribers at least 30 days' notice of material changes by email or in the Service. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the change takes effect. The date of the latest version is shown at the top of this page.

Complaints, Law and Disputes

If you have a problem, please email support@actuarialmind.ai first. We will try to resolve it quickly.

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country, and you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.

General

  • These Terms, with the policies they refer to, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
  • If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
  • If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • We may transfer our rights and obligations to another organisation that takes over the Service, and we will tell you if we do. Your rights under these Terms will not be reduced. You may not transfer your account.
  • No one other than you and us has any right to enforce these Terms.
